On September 20, 2008,bi-partisan Public Field Hearings on the Health Care Crisis will take place in South Florida to underscore the urgency of serious problems in the United States in accessing quality care.  The goal is to bring this crisis to the attention of elected officials and the general public. Panelists will be made of patients and expert practitioners  and will discuss possible solutions and current models of delivery that already exist to solve these problems

These hearings are a grass roots movement and were initiated under the auspices of The National Academies of Practice by Dr. Marie A.DiCowden, Committee Chairperson and Vice President of Public Policy for NAP.NAP is a distinguished and independent group of health care providers who focuses on health policy to benefit the people of the United States. The September 20th hearings have attracted the involvement of numerous dedicated individuals, organizations and coalitions.  We are honored to have Congressman John Conyers Jr. (MI) and Congresswoman Hilda Solis (CA) as honorary chairs of the Federal Panel along with Congressman Robert Wexler (FL).

 

 

 All Members of the U.S Congress and Senate have been invited to be panelists and honorary chairs. State and local elected officials will also be honored guests and panelists. Patients, representatives from the public and experts from the medical community will be given the opportunity to speak to the panel at these hearings. With the support of the Florida Department of Health and Governor Charlie Crist, the Florida State Surgeon General, Dr. Ana Viamonte Ros, will also testify and also serve as a panelist to hear from the public and practitioners about the health care crisis as well as solutions.
